☆☆☆

This journey is not just defined by piazzas, cathedrals or castles, but by the rythems of nature, with the cypress trees, the smell of sheep’s milk cheese pervading from a local farm, the relaxing warmth of the natural hot springs and the mystical simplicity of the timeless landscape and people of Tuscany.

On our 9 day Tuscany adventure we immerse ourselves into the Tuscan country side by staying exclusively at the Podere Cunina farm located outside BuenoConvento and the UNESCO world heritage site of the Val d’Orcia. Our host farm proudly produces their own olive oil, honey and saffron. The itinerary stimulates the senses but also allows for down time. From cobblestone streets of the midieval hilltop towns to our hands delving into the culinary delights with chef Marcello as he teaches us family recipes in his cooking class. We stroll the back streets of Florence’s long time rival, Siena, tasting local specialties along the way. Lose yourself in time as we hike to an 8th century monastery in a valley amid vines and olive groves, while another hike will lead us to the healing natural hot springs of the Val d’Orcia. From wine tastings to cheese making and journaling, this is a journey of connection and expansion of oneself.

Prices range from $3,500-$3,995 depending on lodging.

FULL ITINERARY

Our days will start with a morning ritual of body and mind attunments and movements,a cleansing of our spirits led by Heather.

DAY 1: Benvenuto in Italia!(Welcome to Italy!) We will meet up at set time and location in Florence. Relax and enjoy the timeless beauty of the Tuscan countryside as you are shuttled to the beautiful Podere Cunina. Settle into your accomodations and unwind before the group meets up for our first shared dinner and opening circle.

DAY 2: Greet the day with our first invigorating morning ritual. Heather will introduce you to her special body and mind attunments and movements that help stimulate your circulation and resets your nervous system. Enjoy a light breakfast before our host family welcomes us to indulge in the ageless traditions of olive oil, saffron and honey making. Our day continues with chef Marcello leading us in a 4 hour cooking class. We’ll be creating and preparing tantalizing Tuscany dishes that we will share and enjoy with the host family in the main house. A cookbook of Marcello’s specialties will be included as well as wine. The rest of the day you will be free to explore the surroundings, sit by the pool writing in your journal or just relaxing.

DAY 3: Enjoy a morning of moving meditation and stretches to start off
our glorious day in Siena. Siena is for many the most beautiful town in Italy. At its heart is a ravishing piazza, and from it’s heights rises a magnificent duomo of striped marble. A local guide will escort us on a fun filled back street learning experience of local artisans, to taste local gelato, wine, cheese and other delights. After winding our way through the 2000 year old city we will immerse ourselves into the artistic greatness of Siena that resides within the 12th century black and white striped cathedral. The day will be topped off with a well deserved dinner and glass of wine at one of Siena’s favorite local restaurants.

DAY 4: Begin the day with the heart opening body and mind attunments. Enjoy breakfast in the comfort of our farmhouse grounds before we set out on a short hike to soak our body’s in the healing natural waters of the Bagno San Filippo hot springs. As we soak ourselves in the surroundings and waters we will have time to write in our journals as we abide in a healthy picnic. Enjoy a quiet evening at the property.

DAY 5: Today we will be visiting two neighboring hill top towns. Our first stop Pienza, the Pecorino cheese capital of the world. This lovely town sits perched above the Val d’Orcia with views of wheat fields and vineyards. Today we get to learn the craft of making this regions special cheese at a local family run farm. Here we’ll meet the sheep that supply their milk to produce this famous cheese and learn the entire process. After an extensive 2 plus hour tour we will be lunching at this most picturesque venue.
We then head in the direction of Montepulciano, a medieval hilltop town where we’ll set our sights on wine tasting and earn our libations with some exercise from the steep narrow streets. Indulge in both the history of the 11th century wineries and the wines that make this hilltop town a top destination. We will be dinning at the “do not miss” restaurant, Acquacheta.

DAY 6:This morning breakfast will be served in a group setting as we set ourselves up for a wonderous day of hiking. Today will be the big push for some, but worth every moment of our 7.6 mile adventure that will be leading us through some magical shaded Woodlands and the Brunello vineyards of Montalcino. We are off to explore, and one of our destinations is the 8th century Abbey of Sant’Antimo, (Anello di Sant’Antimo). Legend has it that the first stone here was laid on the order of Charlemagne in A.D.781 after an angel cured his plague stricken entourage on a journey from Rome. We will enjoy food along the way and top the day off with a casual visit to Montalcino for a coffee or wine, and nibbles.

DAY 7: Let your senses go wild and your heart and your feet guide you on this free day out in one of the famous hilltop towns. No agenda. Whether you’re looking for gifts or souvenirs or wish to find local craftsman this is your time. We’ll have fun recommendations. This is the one day you’ll be on your own, so lunch will not be provided. We recommend you form groups unless you feel confident in wondering by yourself. We will have a set time that we’ll meet back together as a group.

DAY 8: Today is our last full day together. We’ll have a special closing circle and group dinner. Through the day you’ll have time to pack, go on a nature walk and write down highlights or reflections you may wish to share in the closing circle.

DAY 9: Today you’ll be transported back to Florence where we will bid our farewells to one another. Some may be staying in Florence to explore, others may move onto another region or country, while those that are excited to get back to friends and love one will fly home.
